FigChat
A Figma plugin that brings LLMs into your Figma and FigJam files.
FigChat puts language models inside Figma and FigJam. Generate design ideas, rewrite text, brainstorm, summarize notes, and automate repetitive tasks without leaving your design tool.
Overview
What FigChat is, and who it is for.
The problem
Design teams lose hours to placeholder copy, variant rewrites, and synthesis work that pulls them out of Figma. FigChat keeps generative AI inside the canvas. The model meets the work where it lives, on frames, FigJam stickies, and component descriptions, with no tab-switch and no copy-paste loop.
Who it is for
For product designers, UX writers, and design ops leads in Figma and FigJam. Compress copy iteration and research synthesis without leaving the file.

Engagement
How a FigChat rollout runs.
- 01
Install & trial
Day 1
Install from the Figma community listing or a private workspace link. Designers trial against real frames in minutes. No procurement gate to start.
- 02
Workspace configuration
1 week
Set tone rules, restricted terminology, and per-team prompt presets. Choose permitted model providers and data-handling preferences.
- 03
Pilot rollout
2-3 weeks
Run with one product team or design pod. We pair on prompt patterns for their work: copy variants, research synthesis on FigJam boards, component descriptions.
- 04
Org-wide adoption
Ongoing
Promote validated prompt presets to the wider design org. Office hours and a shared playbook keep usage healthy as designers join.
Posture
What FigChat commits to.
In-canvas
No tab switching
AI runs against the Figma and FigJam selection: frames, layers, stickies. Not a side panel pasted from elsewhere.
Tone-aware
Brand-constrained
Prompts are wrapped in your tone, terminology, and restricted-word rules. Output reads on-brand by default.
Provider choice
Model-portable
Swap providers without changing prompt presets. The team logic survives the model churn.
FAQ
FigChat: frequently asked questions
Does FigChat work in both Figma and FigJam?
Yes. In Figma it operates on layer and frame selections. In FigJam it summarises stickies, clusters research notes, and rewrites content on the board.
What happens to the design data I send to the model?
FigChat sends only the text and structural context the prompt requires, never your file as an asset. Provider data-handling follows the model you choose. For client work we recommend no-training, zero-retention endpoints.
Can we restrict which models the team can use?
Yes. Workspace admins pin allowed providers and models, set per-team tone presets, and can disable free-form prompts in favour of curated presets.
Do you support enterprise SSO and audit logging?
For workspace deployments we offer SSO via your IdP and an event log of prompt invocations per user. We cover specifics on the configuration call.
Is there a self-hosted option?
FigChat is a Figma plugin, so the client surface lives in Figma's sandbox by design. The model gateway it calls can point at a self-hosted inference endpoint in your VPC.
